When a person comes to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and their desire is to be SAVED, then this is THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME IN THEIR LIVES.
It is not a time to talk about other things, but we are to LEAD them to the LORD. Leading means that we must direct the way and do it in the proper manner.
What does the Word Say: Romans 9-10
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Individuals must:
1. Repent from their sins
2. Believe in their heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that Jesus was crucified for their sins, that God raised Jesus from the dead.
3. Confess with their mouth the above belief in #2
Saying the sinner’s prayer is simply a way of declaring to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ as your Savior. There are no “magical” words that result in salvation. It is only faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection that can save us. If you understand that you are a sinner and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ, here is a sinner’s prayer you can pray to God:
Sinners Prayer or Conversion Prayer
” God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
Rededication Prayer or Recommitment Prayer:
“Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus. Please forgive me for turning away from you and walking in my own ways. I repent for the sins I have committed. I make the decision to return to you and put you first in my life. Thank you for loving me and accepting me back. Thank you for your grace which covers me. I stand on your word that if I confess my sins, you are faithful and just and will forgive me and that I am free from condemnation because I am in you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
The Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements – bread and the “fruit of the wine,” 0 is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4); a memorial of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26); and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Corinthians 1:26); and is enjoined on all believers “till He come!”
We normally have communion on the 2nd Sunday of the month, and we also serve communion in the homes of those who are not able to attend church during our personal visits. During times of Communion, it is important that those who are receiving it understand the reason.
Before one receives communion, it is important that they know the purpose of communion. They must ask God to forgive them and, they must forgive others for anything that may have been done to them. The following scriptures help in this area.
What does the Word Say: 1 Corinthians 11:26-30
26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till He come.
27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in the newness of life (Matthew 29:19; Mark 16:1; Acts 10:47 and Romans 6:4).
We have Water Baptism on the 3rd Sunday of each month, and it is made available for those who have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and or have rededicated their lives to the Lord. We have even had those who are saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, and living a life pleasing in God’s sight to even take part in Water Baptism. The following information pertains to who should be baptized.
· All who repent and are believers (Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15-16). These are prerequisites to Water Baptism. That we have repented and have faith towards God.
These foundational truths precede water baptism even in the order given in Hebrew 6:1-2; repentance from dead works and faith towards God.
One doesn’t become a believer or become saved through Water Baptism, but Water Baptism is the outward expression to everyone that witnesses this event that you are a believer in Jesus Christ.
